Please note that our next general meeting will be held on Monday, October 20, in Desert Vista’s room 1 at 1:00 PM.  You won’t want to miss this meeting, as we will be treated to a brilliant watercolor and pastel demonstration by renowned artist, Tatsiana Harbackeuskaya.

 

Also, it will be the last day within which to submit your entires and checks for the Fine Art Show, set for Nov 1 & 2.  If you have prepared a piece to match up to one of the poems or stories from the Writers’ Workshop, and did not bring it in last meeting, please bring your work to this meeting.  All art works for the Show are to be brought to the Desert Vista ballroom between noon and 2:00 PM on Friday, October 31.

To All Our Members:

 

Welcome to the fall and the start of our meetings and new classes.

 

First:  Our first general meeting of the season will take place on Monday, September 15 at 1:00 PM in Desert Vista’s room 1.  We are very excited to announce that the Club will be treated to an amazing demonstration by special guest and renown artist, Liam Quan Zhen.  Mr. Zhen will paint for us an entire watercolor scene, while discussing his background and techniques.  Don’t miss this incredible opportunity.  

 

Also, we will confirm our class schedule.  In this regard please note that for the fall term, Linda Smith will take over Doni Murphy’s beginner watercolor class, Monday mornings at 9:00 AM in the MP room.  The first class of the session will be held on Monday, Sept. 22.  Also, Linda’s intermediate watercolor class will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 9:30 AM.

 

Linda will be present at the advanced oil/ acrylic class on Monday, Sept 15, the morning before our general meeting.  However, thereafter, she will not be available for the regular painting session up at the Pinnacle.  The regular group will continue to paint together.  All oil or acrylic painters are welcome.  Also, Linda will try to meet with this group on a monthly basis to evaluate our work.

 

The Zen Tangle class will continue (Mondays at 1:00 in the MP room), as will the sketch & paint class (mixed media) (Wednesdays at 1:00 in the MP room).  My class will continue on Tuesdays at 2:00 PM in the Pinnacle Art Room.  All oil or acrylic painters are welcome.

 

Carol’s basic drawing class will begin a new session on Friday, Sept. 19, starting at noon in the MP room.

 

Finally, colored pencil artists will meet Friday afternoons (1:30 PM) in the MP room, and group painting will continue Friday mornings  (watercolor in the MP room, all mediums in the Pinnacle Art Room.) 

 

Next:  Please remember to bring your paintings or drawings related to the Writers’ Workshop short stories and poems.  Remember, a Michael’s gift certificate will be given to all contributors.  You still have time to put something together.  Copies of the stories and poems will be sent out in the mail.

 

Lastly, in preparation for the Art Show on Nov 1 & 2, we will be holding card painting sessions in the MP room at 9:00 am on Wednesday, Sept. 10 and again, on Friday, Sept 19.  Please come and help us put together a new batch of beautiful cards.  And of course, we seek your entries for the Show itself.  We need more entries to assure a great event.  Please try to send in your applications asap.  You can download the form from our website:  www.suncityartclub.org.  Also, hard copies will be placed in our art rooms & will be available at the general meeting.
